Okay, now that I got that out of my system. I am going to be a working mommy! When I found out I was pregnant, I was looking into day care immediately. Mainly because my husband and I just graduated law school last year and we are just starting our careers. Also, because my job was a year long clerkship (for non-lawyers, that is a job working for a judge - basically ghost writing all his decisions) and I knew when that job was over it would be hard to find a new job while asking for maternity leave. Needless to say, when Isaiah got here that "6-week old day care" idea went out the window! He was just so beautiful, and I am nursing and we are in love! There was no way I was letting some "Hand That Rocks The Cradle" nanny have more access to my baby than me! So while I resumed my job search, it was pretty lackluster. A sent resume here, a follow up call there... not nearly the vigor expected of me by most people who knew me pre-Mommyhood. Well, the Judge I used to work for called last week telling me that a partner at a local law firm was looking for someone to write his motions for him at a considerable pay scale. He recommended me - highly of course :-). While I was excited - I couldn't help but picture some psycho nanny rubbing her hands together with a sinister grin. I called the partner anyway. It couldn't hurt! Well, Mr. D called me back today to basically offer me the position based on the Judges recommendation. But - thats not the best part! I mentioned Isaiah, because I just couldn't help myself and he said he has a ten month old and "I should be home with my son - so I can work from home!!!!!" He already has three motions for me to write. With the salary I will be getting per motion - I will be making more than I made while working full time last year. ANNNDDD -- no psycho nanny's!!!!!! I couldn't feel more blessed. I am going into the office Wednesday to meet him and the other associates. Next September, I have a full time job lined up in DC. By then, Isaiah should be speaking and we can fight off the psycho nanny's together. Until then - it's me, my baby and my laptop!!
